Wolpert had previously spent the last 16 years as a venture partner for Accel, where he originated the firm’s investments in Vox Media, Lookout Mobile, Kongregate, among others. Wolpert’s investing experience has extends to Chance Technologies, a seed fund which invested in over 50 companies. Current portfolio companies include: Scopely, Replicated, The Immortals, Snap Credit, SteadyMD, inVia Robotics, Volley, Looped Live, Scener, and Lunar Crush, as well as Bridg (acq. by Cardlytics) and Jukin Media (acq. by Trusted Brand Media).
In addition to being an active investor, Richard is a 4x founder/CEO, most recently having founded and run HelloTech. Wolpert began his career at Apple in 1985 on the original Macintosh Software team, served as President Disney Online, Chief Strategy Officer of RealNetworks, and has authored the book “The Soul Of A Deal”
“It has been a privilege and honor to be part of the Accel team. I have learned so much and seen the firm scale from a small group of partners, including Theresia Gouw, to one of the largest and best VC firms in the world. I am thrilled about the opportunity to once again work with a small group of partners at Acrew Capital and to help increase our crew’s exposure to consumer internet companies and to LA deals more generally,” Wolpert went on to say.
Having known Richard for over 17 years and having had the chance to work closely with him during my time at Accel, I am thrilled to have him as part of the Acrew Capital Team” said Theresia Gouw, Acrew Capital Co-founding Partner.
"Richard and I have known each other for about a decade and I have tremendous respect for his depth of operating and investing experience. We’ve gotten a chance to collaborate already on community activated & LA-based opportunities and we are fortunate to count Richard as part of our Crew,” added Vishal Lugani, Acrew Capital Co-founding Partner.
Acrew Capital was founded with a core value of diversity of perspective; today 63% of the Acrew investing team are underrepresented minorities and 88% are women or PoC.
